🤝 Getting help
Municipal debt counselling
Often there is help with your finances closer than you think. If you should run into problems, contact your municipality and ask if they have someone you can talk to. Feel free to ask to speak with the ones who pay out salaries. They often have an idea of where you can go to get assistance. Nobody wants you to struggle, and everyone benefits from you doing well.
State and financial support schemes
In Norway we have NAV from the state, plus various financial support schemes. Start by getting in touch. You don't have to say that you're struggling — just say you'd like to talk to someone about finances. Nobody is going to judge you. But maybe you'll gain access to solutions that save you money every month?
More places to turn
This is going to sound wrong, but you can call mental health services. Let them know that you're struggling financially and are desperate for assistance. The kind of people and schemes that exist for mental health assistance have a strong desire to help you further. Even if it isn't in all cases considered mental health, they will help you figure out your path forward. I personally believe that personal finances should be part of the mental health services. If you're struggling financially, life often gets harder mentally as well. Take care of yourself — and ask for help. Solutions exist more often than you'd think!
